Yu-gi-oh was my EVERYTHING during my young teen years. All of my friends played the card game and watched the anime. I used to host “dueling parties” at my house when I was in middle school. Just me and all my guy friends blasting music, eating snacks, and playing cards. Such great memories! I remember I had a water and shadow-themed deck. My strategy was to bait my opponents to attack face-down defense cards, some of which had nasty effects when flipped upright, and some of which were just weak little fish. But the more monsters I had in my discard pile, the stronger I could make my heavy-hitters. After cutting through a series of weak little guys, my opponents would get absolutely wrecked. I won more often than I lost. This fandom really inspired a lifelong love of gaming that I cherish to this day.
Such good memories from those dueling parties. Yami Yugi was my first crush 🫣 I was so mortified when Mom got me a Yu-Gi-Oh! towel, like, “MOM, HE CAN’T SEE ME NAKED.” 🤣 His design is absolutely unhinged but I love this spiky metro teenage pharaoh. The shading on the Millennium Puzzle looks so good!
